The cheap t - shirt
...or: Who can we keep from the explotation of kids?
Photo follows!

The daddy of Anna and Nark bought some cheap t - shirts at the discounter. The quality of the goods is all right indeed, but why are the t - shirts so cheap? Something must be wrong!

Anna
I´m mad at father!

Mark
Oh, you say "father" instead of "daddy". Tell me what has happened.

Anna
Please imagine, daddy bought t- shirts for 1,95 Euros.

Mark
Oh, that ´s a very cheap and crazy offer.

Anna
I don´t mind the price to be crazy at all. Do you know, why the t - shirts are so cheap at all?

Mark
...I ´m not interested in this theme, mainly they are cheap.

Anna
Not at all! Our teacher said the clothes were cheap, only because they were maufactured in Africa and Asia by kid´s labor.

Mark
Oh, now I see what you mean. That ´s worth of course. Kids are not allowed to work, because they have to attend a school and have to learn intelligent matters.

Anna
The kids achieve only a few cents of wages and are exploited.

Mark
...and that´s why your teacher said we shouldn´t buy cheap clothes any longer?

Anna
You ´re right. We can afford to pay a few Euros more for the goods in order grown - up people can achieve correct wages for their work, and the kids haven´t to work any longer. That would be fair, don´t you think so?

Mark
Of course, you are right. But...

Anna
What?

Mark
If I pay 10 or 15 Euros for a t - shirt, I will not get the guarantee that the t- shirt was not manufactured by kids?

Anna
The higher wages could be paid by the higher prices.

Mark
You ´re right theoretically, but what´s in reality?

Anna
Now... But what will happen with the money, you have to pay for the more expensive t - shirts?

Mark
Some people will profit by it surely, but it doesn´t deal with the poor people in Africa and Asia, that will be clear.

Anna
I cannot believe it. You are telling me that the expensive t - shirts are also being manufactured by kids, and the profit will be cashed by some dealers? That would be blackmailing!

Mark
Not at all. If you buy cheap t - shirts, it will be obviously that they were manufactered by kids, but if you buy expensive ones, you cannot know it exactly.

Anna
Consequently daddy buys the cheap t - shirts at once and avoids the risk.

Mark
But you ´re right, this matters are really unsufficient.

Anna
Daddy said he is engaged for a world wide prohibition of kid´s labor.

Mark
But how can we carry out it?

Anna
That is not simply in fact. Our teacher said the kids in Africa and Asia should have to work, because their parents would be unemployed and the families would have to be hungry otherwise.

Mark
That ´s nonsense! Than they can go to the relief office.

Anna
But they haven´t got a relief office there.

Mark
I spite of that it is really strange what your teacher said. The kids would have to work, because their parents would have been unemployed.

Anna
Yes, I said it a few minutes ago.

Mark
...but why are the grown - ups unermployed?

Anna
Oh, now I see what you mean. You think the grown - up people are unemployed, just because their kids are working.

Mark
Correctly. Not a single kid in Africa and Asia would have to work there, because there are more than enough grown - up unemployed people.

Anna
I wonder.. That means that kid´s labor would be superflous at all and could be abolished at once.

Mark
It´s really very simple.

Anna
...and why does nobody abolish kid´s labor? No one has got advantages from it at all.

Mark
Hm, we are still kids, we cannot understand everything in a correct way how gronw - up people and especially politicans are thinking.

Anna
Daddy has been grown - up, be he cannot understand it too.
